The Georgia Apple Festival is a highly anticipated fall event in north Georgia. Thousands of visitors flock to Gilmer County to experience the family friendly festivities spread over the second and third weekends in October (October 15-16 and 21-22). Hillcrest Orchards and Farms

Local Farm Picking

Hillcrest is family-owned and operated, and filled with fun for the family. Pick your own apples during the Apple Pickin’ Jubilee. Activities included in the general admission are wagon rides, cow milking, pig races, multiple playgrounds, jumping pillow, giant slide, pedal cart and trike races, moonshine museum and farmhouse museum. They have also recently added Hillcrest Hillbilly Mini Golf Course and a cow train and host the only Apple Tree Maze in the State of Georgia. There is live country and bluegrass music and clogging on their stage. They have a petting zoo and pony rides. They also have a farm market. BJ Reece Orchards

Local Farm Picking

They are the only orchards that offer U-Pick during the week. They also have their petting farm open during the week as well.

On the weekends they offer other great activities such as zipline, cow milking, corn maze, pig races, apple cannons, pony rides and much more. Leashed dogs are welcome in the orchards, but not the apple house. Appalachia Farm House is only few miles away from all the attractions.

A great family adventure on the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway starts at the historic depot, built in 1905, in downtown Blue Ridge, Georgia. This charming mountain village is nestled in the lush Chattahoochee National Forest and is known for it's pleasant and unique shopping with friendly folks and an old-time atmosphere. Dahlonega is home to five wineries, and the county produces almost 100 acres of grapes yielding 23,000 bottled cases each year. Cavendar Creek is great for a family trip. Montaluce Winery is a personal favorite, with a delicious brunch. Don’t skip the mead, made with N Ga wildflower honey. On the square, try the Wine Walk Passport.
